Guiding Lives provides organized activities to assist clients in recovery from behavioral health disorders to develop the emotional, social, educational, vocational and intellectual skills needed to live learn and work in the community with the least amount of professional support. Our goal is to help the client reach independence in the community with minimal professional support.
Our activities are provided both offsite and on-site with the support of our trained Family Service Coordinators.

In the treatment of substance abuse, we usually utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy. This helps explore the negative thoughts and determine what prompts the use of substances. We also use individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, among others, in providing this service.
Our professionals are trained individuals who can evaluate negative thoughts and assist or guide clients to understand their effect on their bodies, minds, and wellness.

The substance abuse health service caters to families and individuals in the Baltimore Metropolitan and the Washington County areas through home-based and community services. This includes:
Camp Guiding Lives, a therapeutic camp for children and adolescents that provides a unique blend of therapy, skill development, educational opportunities and fun for those who have experienced trauma, abuse, loss, grief, parental substance abuse, divorce of parents, family violence, or those who have an emotional or other behavioral health concerns.
Our mission is to weave together the therapeutic aspects of trauma-informed care, and evidence-based behavioral health programs and services to create a safe space that promotes health, healing, hope, and fun.
At Camp Guiding Lives, we focus on the needs of each camper while giving them the opportunity to experience education, small group activities, games, arts and crafts, small group sessions, and more! Each camper works toward their specific individualized goals with the guidance of our professional and caring staff members, including therapists, community based workers, and camp counselors.
Camp meets once (1) per week for three (3) hours. Your child should attend each schedule session to receive the mandatory academic assistance and enrichment curriculum.
Campers are encouraged to try many different types of activities to include but not limited to:
Virtual Classroom assistance and Individual learning
Homework Help
Tutoring
Therapy
Friendship building
Behavioral Health Intervention Services (skill development)
Recreational Activities
